TGS 2026: The Longest Five Days of Play Unveiled

The 30th installment of Tokyo Game Show will kick off with two dedicated Business Days on September 17 and 18, catering to industry professionals, developers, and media. Following these, the doors will open to the general public from September 19 to 21, allowing fans to dive into the latest games and interactive experiences. All tickets must be purchased online in advance, emphasizing convenience and ensuring smooth entry for the thousands expected to attend. Various ticket options, including One-Day, Fast, and a Premium 3-Day Pass, are available to suit different visitor needs.

  • A comprehensive 30-year history exhibition will showcase past Japan Game Awards winners and key economic indicators, tracing the trajectory of the Japanese game industry.

Exhibitors and Anticipated Demos

While specific major new game title announcements are often kept under wraps until closer to the event, the official exhibitor list promises exciting reveals. One notable first-time attendee is SCS Software, exhibiting in Hall 09, Booth E86. They plan to offer playable demos of several upcoming projects, including:

  • The highly anticipated Iceland DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2.
  • New map expansions for American Truck Simulator, specifically British Columbia and South Dakota.
  • Playable demonstrations of their Road Trip and Coaches projects.
  • A PlayStation 5 version of Euro Truck Simulator 2, marking a significant console expansion.

These confirmed demos alone highlight the show's commitment to providing hands-on experiences with future releases, alongside the expected broader announcements from other major publishers and independent studios.

Beyond the Booths: Attractions and Official Programs

TGS 2026 extends beyond the exhibition halls with a rich schedule of official programs and diverse attractions. Event stage slots in Hall 1 will run from 9:40 AM to 4:30 PM, with all content streamed live on official TGS channels, including YouTube, X, niconico, Twitch, TikTok, DouYu, bilibili, and Douyin, ensuring global accessibility.

Families can enjoy the dedicated Family Game Park, open free of charge to junior high school age and younger visitors (with an accompanying guardian) from September 19-21 at TKP Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall. Other attractions include vibrant cosplay areas, extensive character merchandising, anime and game crossover booths, and themed photo spots. Attendees can also look forward to live presentations, esports showcases, music performances, and celebrity appearances. In a move towards modernization, cashless payment terminals will be implemented across nearly all food trucks and merchandise areas, streamlining transactions for visitors.

Adding to the star power, several individuals have been announced as official ambassadors, known as TGS BOOSTERZ, including Ella Freya, Eir Aoi, JP, Moga Mogami, Kaori Maeda, Gachikun, and Bonchan, who will engage with fans and participate in various event activities.
