EVO 2026 Participation and Game Landscape

EVO 2026 saw a robust turnout, with 5,774 unique competitors registering for at least one of the twelve main tournament titles. The combined total of tournament entries across all main brackets reached an impressive 8,926, indicating a vibrant and active competitive scene. The main lineup featured a compelling mix of classic and contemporary fighting games:

  • Street Fighter 6
  • TEKKEN 8
  • Guilty Gear -Strive-
  • 2XKO
  • Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
  • Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves

  • Rivals of Aether II
  • BlazBlue: Central Fiction
  • Under Night In-Birth II [Sys:Celes]
  • Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage
  • Vampire Savior

As anticipated, Street Fighter 6 continued its dominance as the most entered game for the fourth consecutive year, drawing 2,414 entrants. TEKKEN 8 followed closely with 1,354 entrants, while the newcomer 2XKO made a strong debut with 1,080 entrants, signaling its immediate impact on the competitive landscape.

Player Crossover and Dedication

Interestingly, over half of the unique competitors registered for only a single game, underscoring a deep specialization among many players. However, more than 2,000 players demonstrated their versatility by entering two or more main brackets. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves exhibited the highest relative crossover, with over half of its players also competing in Street Fighter 6. The largest numerical crossover was observed between Street Fighter 6 and 2XKO, with 436 players participating in both. Conversely, Rivals of Aether II and TEKKEN 8 showed the lowest crossover, with 66.7% and 56.2% of their respective entrants registering for only that single tournament, highlighting dedicated player bases for these titles.

Champions Crowned and Notable Achievements

The culmination of three days of intense competition saw a new set of champions emerge, each etching their name into EVO history. The total prize purse for the event was US$500,000, distributed among the top performers.
